Over the past three months, the Guanacaste Rotary Club has strengthened healthcare access across coastal communities through a partnership with Not Just Tourists (NJT), a nonprofit that redirects surplus medical supplies to underserved regions worldwide.
With NJT’s support, four suitcases of medical supplies were transported from the United States to Costa Rica. These supplies were carefully unpacked, sorted, and assembled into more than 15 medical kits tailored to local needs.
The kits were distributed to public schools in Brasilito, Huacas, Potrero, and surrounding areas, equipping staff to address everyday health needs and minor injuries more effectively. Additional kits were delivered to a senior nursing home in Huacas, supporting caregivers and improving quality of care for elderly residents.
This initiative demonstrates a simple, scalable model that connects global surplus with local need, allowing the Guanacaste Rotary Club to expand its community impact in a meaningful and sustainable way.
