Three A.M. Notions

Have you ever woken up at three o’clock in the morning (or could it still be night time?) with a spectacular idea? Something never thought of before, at least by you. It may be a unique solution to an apparently unsolvable problem, or something completely new, creative and innovative?

Thoughts flow, take upon themselves a life of their own, and slowly become a solid idea, applicable and brilliant!

Why does this occur? Scientists and psychologists share some explanations, although the human mind is a mystery! But these seem to make sense; let us briefly share!

All humans share three levels of awareness: consciousness, sub consciousness, and unconsciousness. We live in consciousness, and the sub consciousness is the birthplace of genius!

According to studies, while sleeping, human beings enter into a state of sub consciousness, where the mind enjoys the reduction of distractions, and allows focus on aspects presented to it, through letting these queries be planted in the mind, to bloom while sleeping, and then when awake, come to complete fruition.

Be urged to rest with pending ideas; and lo and behold, new concepts will become apparent!

What shall we ask ourselves? How? Rest with queries in mind and create a nighttime ritual:

  • Evening Visualization: Before sleep, spend a few minutes vividly imagining the desired outcomes, engaging all senses. The subconscious responds strongly, solidifying goals.
  • Guided Meditation: Engage in mindfulness meditation to observe thoughts and beliefs without judgment. This practice allows identifying and releasing subconscious blockages.
  • Positive Affirmations: Regularly repeat positive statements to yourself to gradually replace limiting beliefs with more empowering ones.

While these exercises may assist in the birth of ideas, just allowing the mind to enjoy serenity and creativity will result in extraordinary results.

Eduard De Bono, father of creative thinking, has said: “Sometimes the situation is only a problem because it is looked at in a certain way. Looked at in another way, the right course of action may be so obvious that the problem no longer exists.” A good night sleep helps discover the other way!

Allow the mind to think outside of the box; and at three a.m., you will awake with an enormous smile on your face, an answer in place, ready to start out on a new journey!
